Cosmetic Dentistry   Veneers vs Bonding

Porcelain dental veneers are an excellent and versatile cosmetic dental treatment that can be used to enhance a smile in manyways. Crooked teeth can be given a straighter, properly aligned appearance; gaps between teeth can be closed; chipped, worn,or broken teeth can be restored; and stained or darkened teeth can be brightened, all with attractive dental veneers.  Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic porcelain that are bonded directly to the tooth to provide appealing, natural-looking results and effectively conceal worn or damaged teeth. When you come in to our practice, your porcelain veneers will be designed specifically to fulfill your dental goals and precisely crafted to your specifications.  In most cases, only a small amount of tooth reduction is required for placement of porcelain veneers, although because each patient’s situation is unique, the amount of tooth preparation varies. Once your new veneers have been prepared, they will be color-matched to your smile so that they match your natural teeth and bonded into place. The final results of your porcelain veneer treatment will look beautiful and natural and will require no special care to maintain properly — simply brush, floss, and visit us regularly for exams and cleanings.

Cosmetic bonding, also known as composite bonding, is a highly effective treatment that can be used to correct a number of relatively minor dental imperfections such as chips, cracks, or stains. Cosmetic bonding can also be used as an alternative to porcelain veneers; however, the life expectancy of a cosmetic bonding repair is shorter than that of veneers or porcelain restorations due to its brittle properties and tendency to stain more easily than porcelain. Cosmetic bonding treatment involves the use of a durable, tooth-colored composite resin material that is placed on front teeth to create highly attractive results quickly and effectively. Depending on the extent of the bonding treatment required to obtain the desired results, cosmetic dental bonding treatment can usually be completed during a single visit to our office.
